Mina began her career in the late 1950s singing in nightclub on the Tuscan Riviera famous for hosting artists such as Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald, she became the most acclaimed singer in Italy. Her first television appearance was in 1959. In the following two years she took part in the Sanremo Music Festival.
In 1963 her TV and radio career for Rai was abruptly brought to an end, as she refused to hide the fact that she was pregnant (she had a relationship with actor Corrado Pani, who was married with Renata Monteduro). However, her huge popularity , largely unscathed by the event, later moved Rai’s management to call her back. Mina subsequently appeared in numerous TV shows, mostly as a TV host, during the late 1960s and the 1970s. Thanks to her powerful voice and her great femininity she enchanted the audience with songs like “Il cielo in una stanza”, “Se telefonando”, “E se domani”, “Grande, grande, grande”, “Parole parole”, “L’importante è finire”.
Though she retired from public appearances in late 1978 after her last live concert, she has continued to release albums on a yearly basis [also she dedicated monographic albums to The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Renato Zero, and Napoli, Holy Music, usually making it to the top of the charts with each new single release.
So now, please enjoy one of the best live performances by Mina and play it again and again.

Lovely,Chrysis!!

Nelson Sullivan was in the center of a swirl of creativity that swept through Downtown New York in the 1980s. Fortunately for us today, he was there with his video camcorder creatively documenting the entertainment, the personalities, and the places that produced some of the most exciting stars of today.
Nelson has been described as the "Proust and Nureyev of the cinematograph." Nelson died suddenly of a heart attack on July 4, 1989, but he left behind a treasure of video, clips from which you can enjoy right here.
This short was directed and produced by Laurie Weltz.
On June 13, 1970, Iggy and the Stooges were captured on tv at the Cincinnati Pop Festival. While performing the songs 'TV Eye' and '1970', Iggy leapt into the crowd, where he was hoisted up on people's hands, and proceeded to smear peanut butter all over his chest. It has since become an iconic rock image. Pay special attention to the play by play announcer ("That's..peanut butter!") and the various shrieks, cries and etchings of audience members as they swarm Iggy!!
A new video from those wonderful nutz on that cruise to hell...
Come aboard, we're expecting you. The Discount Cruise to Hell reminds you that you might be damned but don't worry, so are all of your friends. Set sail for all the fun hell has to offer.
(The song is from Sweet Charity, music by Cy Coleman, lyrics by Dorothy Fields)
Over 35 years ago Bette Midler was affectionately known around Manhattan as "Bette Mildew" since she spent many hours working in a queer bathhouse called The Continental (which would gain notoriety years later in the slapstick comedy "The Ritz"). It was at this bath house that she honed her craft and mastered the art of working an audience. Within a couple of years Bette was so famous that she couldn't even take the time out to perform at RENO SWEENEY'S, a club which was created specifically for her!
This particular clip- "Marijuana" was shot at The Continental around 1970-1972(if you know more info, please place a comment on the page for me!) Bruce Valanch was probably already writing her material and Barry Manilow was definitely behind the keys.

"I believe that somewhere, there is something worth dying for, and I think it's amazing."
Ryan Trecartin’s film A Family Finds Entertainment is a camp extravaganza of epic proportions. Starring Trecartin’s family and friends, and the artist himself in a plethora of outrageous roles, A Family Finds Entertainmentchronicles the story of mixed up teenager Skippy and his adventures in ‘coming out’. In this over the top celebration of queerness, Trecartin’s film mines the bizarre and endearing in an unabashed pastiche of ‘bad tv’ tropes. Cheesy video special effects, dress-up chess costumes, desperate scripts, and ‘after school special’ melodrama combine in the fluency of youth-culture lingo, reflecting a generation both damaged and affirmed by media consumption.
Trip back. Sit out.

Discount Cruise to Hell is a performance band that is the best live experience since the last PANTHERSAHIB show in 1993.Each show show starts as an evening of “life-ending entertainment and acid-flashback Broadway nightmare come true,” imagine a quirky combo of Rocky Horror meets The Poseidon Adventure: The audience has died and is going to Hell on a cruise ship, where they get to watch a horror show/choir lounge act that presumably beats all hell.
This particular clip is a trailer for one of their shows...For more info, check out:

This is a wonderful moment in history via Don Lett's doc THE PUNK ROCK MOVIE. Here is the infamous JAYNE COUNTY( back in 1978 when Jayne was known as WAYNE COUNTY) and his/her band THE ELECTRIC CHAIRS...live in London

Who can wear a full-length, fur-coat on a sunny day at the beach and get away with it? How about a chain-mail bathing suit? Of course, it is the one and only queen of the Tampa, FL Public Access television airwaves in the early 90's Sondra Prill. If you're a newbie, this is a classic not to miss! And remember... pump it, pump it, pump it, PUMP IT!
Directed and produced by Tom Rubnitz in 1989, "Pickle Surprise!"(1989) is a perfect example of the wickedly-whacked-world-view that those demented denizens at the Pyramid Club could conjure from the ether after just a few rounds of cocktails and a big ole spliff.
Sister Dimension stars as Grandpa Hoofpynpoiers (sp?);
RuPaul is still in pre-Supermodel phase since she is trying to to pass for a lady in one of her favorite off-the-rack Dress Barn ensembles - you still need to fix those teeth you skanky ho.
And my! golly gosh! Lady Buinny gives us only one chin to gawk at!
Supporting cast is David Dalrymple,Maria Ayala. and the ever-lasting piece of sex on a stick, Ms. Lahoma Van Zandt
Where's the pickle? That's the surprise!

DANCE-O-RAMA was created by a group of ecletic multi-media artists and personalities from Atlanta. Their goal was to confuse the average viewer by using the public airwaves to spread their brand of humor and blur the concept of what really was real.
When RuPaul moved to Atlanta in the early 80's he flipped on the tube and discovered a cable access program which rocked his world - DANCE-O-RAMA.
In this clip the teenaged RuPaul uses "I'm Losing It" by The Glass Family to teach the audience members how to do the Timothy Leary inspired dance "The Freakout!" Now work it, girls and boys ...and remember, the green acid is good.
Lahoma just wrote in to let me know that she and Lizette were Ru's backup performers for this number. THANKS, Lahoma!!
Fun FACTOID: The show was produced and shot on the same sound stage that James Brown used for his influential 70's TV show FUTURESHOCK.
Telly singing the ever-mindnumbing classic "If". This single was #1 in Europe for ten weeks.
Thanks to Mr. Connors

It's 1989 and Vogueing is sweeping the world. Malcolm McLaren's song "Deep in Vogue" created such a frenzy that Madonna 'permately borrowed' his song to make her hit "Vogue". Being Madge, she then used her label's political clout to surpress McLaren's song long enough to make the world think he stole her idea. If I'm lying then I'm flying- and you don't see no wings do ya?
It's an all star cast at The Love Ball! Micahel Musto, Lady Keir, Kenny Kenny, Chrysis, Stephen Saban, Michael Alig, Julie Jewels, Joey Arias..names names names..and you're on the list!
After some vogueing the scene changes to one of my favorite moments on Nelson's tapes...Nelson goes to the Copacabana and dances with Keir....

Pussy Tourette - French Bitch.
Pussy Tourette's first music video. Shot in San Francisco, 1993.
1993? God, I thought it was 1992. Back then I was writing for a Chicago gay rag called GAB(aka BABBLE, SPITTLE/GAG and many more names!). Anyway- I interviewed sweet PUssy and got her a couple of gigs in Chicago at the same time.
Ole Pussy is one of my favorite modern dragsters...She got the talent, talk and looks!

This is a Southern classic direct from the FUNTONE USA archives! I think this first aired in 1990 on Atlanta cable access. Here DeAundra, Candy Suntop and the rascally Duffy Odum give you their all to Stacie Q's "Two Of Hearts". YAAAAAAAAH! (less)

Karen Black does it again! L7 makes "Bang Bang" (that mind-wobbling hit song by Sony Bono) ooze with soft distortions to lift up Ms. Black's ultra-vox.
"Bang Bang" was a segment within the 1999 show DECOUPAGE.2000!, a brilliant spin off of the hit cable show DECOUPAGE was a wonderful show hosted by Summer Caprice, a woman every mother would love to chat with(played by the incredibly talented Craig Roose).
Kevin Cloud Brechner directed and produced this segment along with DECOUPAGE's longtime producers Kathe Duba-Barnett and Craig Roose.

Chicago's performance band PANTHERSAHIB had a choas-centric philosophy that made them too unconventional and perhaps even dangerous(imagine if THROBBING GRISTLE collaborated with FISCHERSPOONER). The band existed for less than 2 years(1991-92), but their live shows are still considered to be some of the finest spectacles that a Chicago stage will ever witness.
"Girlfountain" is their only 'non-live' music video.
You are going to love this fab song "Cool" by a great No-Wave band called THE PYLONS.

Many of you may not know of the lovely Judy LaGrange, but this woman influenced the influencers of Downtown culture in the 1980s.
Enjoy this beautiful moment with Judy and Lahoma lipsyncing Bobbie Gentry from their trailer park casa. This cliip was originally broadcast on THE AMERICAN MUSIC SHOW- America's longest running cable access show. ANOTHER GREAT FROM ATLANTA, GA!!!

In the early 1990s Holly was promoting her autobiography "A Low Life in High Heels" onto the unsuspecting masses.
This appearance on Joan's show is special because it was the first time Joan and Holly met. Even better, all the baubles and bracelets that Holly is wearing was loaned to her by Joan. Isn't Joan a sweetie?!
Let's not forget teh other panelist--
